Introduction
Gems are equipment items that become available at Tier 2+ content after completing the quest “The Final Report”.
They can drop from the following:
- Chaos Dungeons
- Boss Rush
- World Bosses
Gems can also be traded on the Auction House.
You can view equipped Gems and their benefits in the Character Profile (P), under the “Gem” tab and can equip up to 12 gems.
Gems can either have % damage increase or % cooldown reduction on one of your class skills.
Once you reach tier 3 (1302 ilvl), your tier 2 gems become 50% effective and you must collect new orange tier 3 gems.
Leveling Gems
3 Gems of the same level can be fused together to increase their level by 1. When a new gem is fused, it will randomly obtain either the damage % or cooldown reduction % effect for a random skill for your class.
Gems can go up to a maximum of level 10 and their stats increase by the following:
You can level your gems directly from the inventory window (I), by clicking the Gem icon.
In the gem window you can either select the 3 gems manually, or click the one of the level buttons to automatically level all gems in your inventory to the desired level or as high as they can be leveled.
You can also use the “Auto Fuse” setting, which will level all gems you obtain automatically.
Refaceting Gems
If you equip multiple gems with the same effect on the same class skill, only the highest bonus will be applied. A warning icon is shown in the Gem window if you have two of the same effect on the same skill.
You may also drop a gem that has a bonus effect applied to a skill you don’t use, this is where gem facetting becomes useful.
Refaceting a gem will reroll the class skill on the gem to another random skill for your class. Refaceting can be done at any time with no limitations, but will cost silver each time you reroll them. The silver cost depends on the level of the gem.
To get started, either find a Gem Expert NPC, or if you have a Crystaline Aura active, you can refacet gems using your pet.
In the refaceting window, select the gem you would like to reroll on the left. On the right side, you can see all the possible skills that the gem can randomly change to. Once you have selected a gem, click the “Reforge” button.
