Introduction
Fishing is one of the 6 available Trade Skills and is its materials are mostly used to craft Food/Feasts and Fusion Materials, which are a Tier 2 and Tier 3 Honing material.
All Trade Skills consume the “Work Energy” resource when you gather the Trade Skill loot. When gathering the loot you also have a chance of obtaining Platinium Field Tickets and World Tree Leaves.
To get started with Fishing, I recommend following the purple [Guide] quests, which start in Lakebar Village (Luterra). These quests will reward you with a small amount of Trade EXP to get you started, and will give you an Apprentice Fishing Tool. If you don’t follow the guide quest then you will need to craft one of these yourself or buy a Novice Fishing Tool from a [Trade Skill Tool Merchant] NPC (found in all cities).
Fishing Tools must be equipped to begin the Trade Skill. If your Tool runs out of durability you will need to go to a [Repairer] NPC to fix it. You can also repair your Tools using your pet function if you have an active Crystaline Aura.
Repairing your tools costs silver and also reduces the Max Durability of the Tool. When a Tool is reaching low max durability, you will need a certain amount of Trade Skill Tool Restoration Kits to restore the tool. These can be crafted at your Stronghold.
Where and how to Fish
Fishing can only be done in certain areas on the map. To begin fishing you will need to go to a Fishing Spot, which can be found on the map with this symbol.
You can also hover over areas on the map to check the available Trade Skills in that area:
Once you are at a designated Fishing Spot and have your Fishing Tool equipped, start fishing by pressing “B” to open the Trade Skill Quickslots, then aim your cursor at the body of water use the “E” skill to throw your fishing line.
Wait until the fish appears to take a bite from the Float. The float and the fish will disappear, and you see the “!” symbol, press “E” again to catch the fish.
Whilst fishing there is also a chance of a Golden Fish appearing, which increases your Fishing Loot.
Fishing Level and Skills
All Trade Skills can go up to level 30. Gathering fish materials through the Fishing Trade Skill gives a set amount of Fishing EXP, which will level up the Trade Skill.
- Trade Skill Level – this is your current Fishing Level, level 1, 10, 20 and 30 unlocks passive or active skills
- Fishing Expertise/Mastery – this is your Fishing level + any extra levels obtained from Tools or Charms
- Mastery Skills – these are passive skills, which are unlocked based on your Fishing Expertise/Mastery level, these skills can level up to 10 to increase their buffs
You can view a full breakdown of the available skills, buffs and details in the Trade Skill window (L).
Fishing Materials
Your fishing materials are Stored in your Inventory (I) in the Trade Skill storage. These materials are shared across your roster and are tradeable.
Items with the “house” icon are fishing materials that are gathered from your Stronghold Farm only. These are bound and are used for crafting at your Stronghold.
Fishing Tools
Novice Fishing Tools can be bought from the [Trade Skill Tool Merchant] NPC (found in all cities).
Higher grade Tools must be crafted at your Stronghold Workshop.
